Page 1 of 4 What is MarkBook?MarkBook is a total assessment and reporting solution for schools looking to gain the benefits which computerisation can bring. MarkBook separates out the functions of teachers and of Administrators, drawing a distinction between assessment and reporting. The MarkBook approach combines ease-of-use with a powerful database system. MarkBook was originally developed in conjunction with the Methodist Ladies'; College, Melbourne, by teachers for teachers. It is now a part of the standard reporting process of the leading schools across Australia, in the Government, Catholic and Independent sectors. Mark Scott, who was Director of Information Services at MLC during the time MarkBook was being developed and until the end of 1998, believes one of the main advantages of MarkBook is the time it saves the school "community". "The central approach to assessment and reporting has saved individual teachers much time and stress," he said, "and the turnaround - from teachers' individual assessments through to reports being printed - is so much quicker." "I am drawn to the simplicity of MarkBook. It's easy to use - it's what teachers are used to doing manually, with pen and paper," says Yolanda Chan, Business Studies Coordinator at Tintern Anglican Girls' Grammar School, "but results in better reports, without the manual drudgery." |
